Entrained Meditation
Brain entrainment meditation is a type of meditation based on sounds and involves only listening to binaural beats. These binaural beats are nothing more than extremely relaxing sound recordings. Through listening to these sounds through disciplined meditation, the meditator is brought to a similar level of relaxation.
It is thought that brain entrainment meditation is a significantly beneficial relaxation technique that will result in many of the same positive effects that are encompassed by regular forms of meditation.
The basis for this type of meditation is that our brainwaves, when they hear sound, change patterns from those which they are used too during a normal waking state. There has been significant research done on this form of meditation and science has proven the effects of it and how it works.
This makes brain entrainment a great practice for those who may be skeptical as to the benefits of meditation as it’s benefits have been proven by multiple clinical studies.
Brainwave entrainment dates back to the 1970’s at which time Dr. Gerald C. Oster discovered that the four main categories of brainwave patterns could be induced by listening to binaural beat frequencies. These four main categories include Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta. Beta is a state of awakeness, Alpha is a state of relaxed awakeness, Theta a state of deep meditation, and Delta a state of deep, dreamless sleep.
Research shows that one can reach each of these brain frequency patterns through meditation inflicted on oneself and can increase the power of the mind.
