History of Transcendental Meditation
Transcendental mediation was founded and taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi over a half a century ago and still is being practiced by many today. Transcendental meditation stems from Hinduism. The central belief of Hinduism is the circle of life and death is never ending, death brings reincarnation and so on. How a person lived their present life with determine how they will live the next. Each Hindu worships a specific deity they choose in their own home.
Scientifically proven to work?
There have been claims and countless studies to show that TM and improve many aspects in daily life such as school related work, job performance, better self-esteem, reduced health risk, and a overall intellectual growing power. TM’s purpose is to have the person reach their full potential and maximize their abilities.
TM is practiced three times a day where a person tries to achieve a state of readiness and relaxation by sitting with their eyes closed. There is no specific focus in TM, the goal is to experience alertness by relaxing the body. When the awareness is obtained then Transcendental Consciousness can begin. TC goal is for the person to reach their full creative potential by blocking the bodies ills such as fatigue. TM settles down and calms the mind to thinking clearly and without disruption.
There also have been debates whether or not Transcendental meditation is a religion, scientific system, or psychology to gain a better mental and physical health. More the six million people not practice TM in some form across the world. There are courses for TM at the Maharishi University of Management located in Fairfield, Iowa which has nearly 1.200 full-time students. All students practice TM on their first day enrolled in the school.
Just another form of meditation
This is just another form of meditation to improve a persons daily life in every way. It is a relatively easy meditation once learned and can be performed almost anywhere. Only twenty-minutes a day twice a day isn’t much time out of the day to improve the quality of a persons life. While skeptics will claim people do not need to spend $2,500 to learn the technique that can be the case. Transcendental meditation is another choice to give people who are stresses out and need a change in their lives a way to feel bet
ter about themselves.
For these goals to work such as a improve self-esteem, intellectual growing power, and so on, TM must be practiced frequently. Good things can happen with a steady diet of TM and a discipline to continue with it. TM is not guaranteed to fix every problem a person might have but is regarded as an aid to help a person in the right direction. TM might be just an elaborate way to sell relaxsation exercises, that is for others to decide. TM is not for everyone, some people will try it and may not liked it, others might try it and apply it to their every day lives and stay with it. Meditation in general is not for everyone.
