Kriya Meditation

Kriya meditation is a form of yoga that is based on the breath, the brain, and the spinal cord. The breath is thought to be the mediator between the soul and the mind. The brain is thought to be the mediator between the senses and the mind. And the spine is thought to be the intermediary area in which our physical actions are reflected.

The practice of Kriya emphasizes this relationship between the breath and mind. Due to the fact that the breath influences the mind and the mind influences the breath, the relationship between the two will reveal the secret to controlling ones mind.

Those who study this form of yoga feel that it is a wonderful opportunity to reach a higher level of consciousness. The same technique has been practiced by saints, seers, and sages for as long as can be remembered as a way to hasten spiritual development.

The goal of this form of yoga is to be able to control the breathing by constantly observing the breath that enters the body as well as that which leaves the body. By doing this the meditator enables himself to achieve a certain form of constant nirvana or feeling of liberation.
